2020 Summer Institutes

Each summer, Learning Forward hosts a series of two-day deep dives into professional learning topics that increase leadership capacity, improve teaching practice, and produce positive outcomes for all students. These Summer Institutes are opportunities for leaders at all levels (teachers, instructional coaches, school- and district-based administrators) to explore proven strategies and best practices for leading learning in their schools, systems, or organizations. The 2020 Learning Forward Summer Institutes will be held in Minneapolis at the Hyatt Regency from July 16-19, 2020.

Deadline: The Learning Professional, October 2020 Article Submissions

How do we create schools that are welcoming and productive learning environments for all? This issue will explore the role of professional learning in ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and successful at school. Articles might cover topics such as inclusion of students with special needs in mainstream classrooms, increasing instructional rigor for English Learner students, addressing implicit bias among teachers and/or students, and improving social and emotional learning strategies. Priority will be given to articles that focus on building educators’ capacity for ongoing practices rather than short-term intervention programs.
